The Epicurean Charitable Foundation Las Vegas Seeks Applicants for Annual College Scholarships

Foundation to award a limited number of Clark County high school students with up to $10,000 per year toward college education

Epicurean Charitable Foundation Las Vegas officials announced today the Foundation is actively seeking applications for its annual college scholarship program. Clark County senior high school students who are passionate about pursuing a career in the hospitality and culinary arts industries are encouraged to apply. Applications are available online at www.ecflv.org and must be submitted by February 10, 2009 to be considered for the scholarship award. The Foundation will also host its first Scholarship Orientation for any students applying for the scholarship. The orientation will be held Thursday, January 8 from 6-7:30 p.m. at the Curriculum & Professional Development Center at 3950 S. Pecos-McLeod, Ste. 1-F.

The Foundation awards each qualified high school student up to $10,000 per year to cover tuition, books and fees to attend an accredited four-year college of their choice during the academic year following their graduation. Students must plan to obtain a Bachelor’s Degree in hotel management or food and beverage programs. Each student must graduate with a cumulative grade point average of 2.75 and demonstrate the personal dedication necessary to pursue a career in the hospitality industry, but lack the financial means to achieve their goals. In addition to the financial support, recipients also receive a mentor from the Foundation’s ranks for constant guidance and opportunities for internships throughout the student’s college career.

“The guidance that you receive as a recipient of this scholarship is unbelievable. Because of this scholarship I have learned and grown more than the average college student who just attends classes. I have learned that becoming a leader in your community is just as important as succeeding in your career,” said Jeremy Jordan, 2006 recipient of the Epicurean Charitable Foundation Scholarship.

The Foundation’s mission with the scholarship program is to aid worthy students in their endeavors and to create a pipeline of extraordinarily talented people who will someday serve as the next generation of hospitality executives and leaders in their community. Since its inception, the Foundation has awarded 25 academic scholarships to Clark County high school graduates.

“We have been very fortunate to award tremendously talented men and women with this scholarship,” said Epicurean Charitable Foundation Founder Rino Armeni. “This year, we hope to extend this scholarship to even more students. As a foundation, it is very important for us to continue to invest in the future of the hospitality industry and to guide students to be future executives and leaders in the industry.”
