The par-72 course was designed by Jay Moorish. The aim of Painted Desert was to create a course that is friendly and playable but still offers an exciting challenge for experienced golfers. Many will say Painted Desert offer a fairness that some more demanding courses in Las Vegas tend to lack.

This course is a lot less demanding than some of the other desert courses. The signature hole at Painted Desert is the 8th hole, a par-3 that plays 193 yards. The green slopes and is guarded by sand and water. However, the course saves the most beautiful hole for last. The 18th hole offers the best views and it is a great way to end a trip to Painted Desert.

The clubhouse offers a large bar, restaurant, and some lounging areas with wide panoramic views of the course. Unlike many courses built out of the Nevada desert, Painted Desert kept much of the natural vegetation in place, which can become a challenge on some of the holes.
