About Me:

Born and raised in Central Iowa on September 18, 1985, DJ B grew up with a strong love for music. He thrived on the “beat” of the song and was excited to try and make new sounds by blending songs together. As a young child, DJ B created his own ‘stage’ by using two saw horses and a piece of plywood where he placed two large boom boxes. With the end of each song, he would turn down the volume on one box while increasing the volume on another to prevent any silence between songs, all the while announcing his music as though he were broadcasting a radio show or performing for a live audience.

In junior high and high school, DJ B spent hours downloading songs that were not commonly played on local radio stations. He had a great love for music and was starving to see what else was out there. He would then take his newly mixed CDs and share them with his large group of friends who were understandably impressed. DJ B would leave them anxious to find out what he would come up with next.

After four years of high school at Pella Christian High, in Pella, Iowa, DJ B became engaged to his high school sweetheart. Thinking that he had the future figured out, he was devastated when the engagement fell through a while later. At the advice of his grandfather, who had recently lost his wife, DJ B sought to find happiness again. What better place to find it than in music.

Joining a high school friend, Jeff Meuzelaar, whom he had assisted in DJing in high school, DJ B began to mix his own sounds. Starting out, DJ B got an entertainment laptop, a set of Stanton C314 tables and a Stanton M505 mixer with virtual vinyl mixing software. This got him into many high schools in the Midwest. In no time at all the word was out, DJ B was HYPE. Clients from all over the Midwest were contacting Musical Edge DJ Service to request DJ B for not only high school dances, but weddings, night clubs and clothing stores as well.

Recently DJ B has attended DJ conferences in Las Vegas where he was able to get an even better feel for the DJ circuit and vast variety of DJing styles. He strives to learn new and improved ways to control the mood on the dance floor and keep people moving all night long.

Currently DJ B continues to work for Musical Edge DJ Service in connection with IOWADJ.COM where he now spins with Technics 1200 MK2 vinyl turn tables, a Rane TTM57SL mixer, Serato mixing software and a Mac Book Pro. His schedule stays busy with bookings nearly every weekend in 2010. You can find him spreading his ’hype’ anywhere from a private party or the finest nightclub to the biggest high school event.

DJ B has been influenced by the likes of DJ Brett B, DJ Scene, DJ Jazzy Jeff, and DJ AM to name a few. He says that the best part about DJing is seeing the people enjoy the music and knowing that not everyone has the skills to bring that kind of happiness. Though his style may be different from others, people love his show. He keeps the party hype, the dance floor moving and the crowd craving more.
